Laura Mvula, a native of Birmingham, England began her career in 2012 presenting her unique orchestral pop sound – a mix of pop, jazz, and soul with creative and accessible electronic twists — that gains recognition months before the release of her first album. The album Sing to the Moon was released in March 2013 and peaked at number nine in the U.K., while one of its four singles — “Green Garden” — reached number 31 on the singles chart. In 2014 Laura Mvula surprised her fans with a session of Sing to the Moon remakes recorded at Abbey Road Studios with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest.
The music video we’ve selected to feature Laura Mvula is “Green Garden”, released in 2013. It has been directed by Wendy Morgan, who is well-known for her fresh style combining rhythm, colour and choreography. Using the dynamic of Mvula’s song, Morgan injected a energy into video. As the song is reflecting the feeling of childhood and discovery when escaping the city for the nature, the video follows that story and adds a tribal vibe with its dancing moments. Feel the elements of joy and clap along.
